Training municipal employees in BC & Alberta in PH&S

Both provincial safety associations (BCMSA and AMHSA) sought comprehensive training for executives, managers, and employees on workplace mental health. The programs serve both municipal employees and industry members like CUPE.
The training had to aligned to the CSA Standard on PH&S and developed using rigorous instructional design — qualifying them as certified continuing education under the ISO, CPHR, and ANSI-IACET standards. The goal was to bring everyone up to the same baseline of mental health knowledge, stigma reduction, awareness of expectations and behaviours in the workplace, communication skills, and then specialized modules to address the needs and issues faced by each level. MWH and Addiev developed three, modularized, interactive training programs offered as serials for delivery as virtual sessions or eLearning. |
Challenge: Pivot from Virtual Delivery to eLearning
MWH was contracted to design and deliver in-person PH&S training throughout BC. The pandemic altered plans forcing all programs to be delivered virtually. Addiev worked with MWH and produced 3 modularized courses, complete with comprehensive facilitator guides and train-the-trainer activities in preparation to engage participants remotely. The programs earned in the 90th percentile for satisfaction, leading to an opportunity to also offer the programs as self-directed learning in both BC and Alberta to reach more learners. Here's what we achieved:
Three, highly-engaging, facilitator-led PH&S programs . The 8-hour executive track, 20-hour manager track, and the 16-hour employee track.

Two, immersive PH&S eLearning programs for people leaders and employees. The programs feature storylines, gamified challenges, and assessment.

Each program comes with a learner workbook with exercises and aide memoires to better integrate and activate new knowledge.

Addiev developed extra eLearning courses and set up MWH's Learning Management System, complete with branding to match the website.
